STD Tests

The table below is the list of sexually transmitted disease (STD) tests which you can take at the clinic. There are unaccountable types of virus, bacteria or fungus that could cause STD and it is not possible to diagnose all types in one test from one sample (blood or urine). The STD tests on the list are the most common ones offered in Japan.

Please note that according to Japanese law, STD tests are not covered by Japanese Health Insurance and patient is responsible for the full cost. The charge for each test changes every few years as regulated by law.  Please ask Dr. Yumi how much it may cost.

Some tests require special Spitz tubes that the clinic needs to order in advance. Please be sure you make reservation and let the doctor know what kind of STD you want to be checked before your visit.
